Bird o’ the Day O.G. Christina Smith has been traveling in Portugal. She says the birding hasn’t been great, but she did meet this European Robin who consented to a photograph.
I love spunky little Marsh Wrens. They prefer the safety of hiding down in the cattails, but it’s that time of year and they’re not going to meet That Special Someone down in the basement. So they take the risk, come up top, and sing their love call.

Caramel crows are pretty interesting. This one found a tasty treat, then slipped away just as another crow tried to steal it away.
Looks like that’s a favored perch for this Belted Kingfisher.
It was at this point that our friend began to question the life choices that led to him standing in ankle deep water on a blustery morning.
We haven’t seen any yet this year, but here’s a snap of a hoot owl from March 2023. Don’t worry, we’ll keep looking!
