It was a raptor trifecta! After spotting the kestrel and osprey on the south beach, we spied this Cooper’s Hawk hanging out by the pond along the north beach trail. Sadly, we were unable to get a picture of its ankles. That’s not a weird birder kink. Seattle’s Urban Raptor Project places identification bands on Coopers‘ legs to keep track of them and glean information about their lives.
