Tap your fingers. Pace back and forth. Check the time. The clock has never moved more slowly. Every expectant couple knows the feeling.

A pair of Bald Eagles have set up housekeeping at the Klineline Ponds, an old gravel pit turned county park near where I grew up. From the looks of the nest this isn’t the first time eagles have used it. The ponds lie along Salmon Creek. The creek has no salmon anymore, but is the center of several miles of a protected greenway of woods and meadows. It’s a perfect place to raise a new family of eagles.
