We came home from a birdy outing and spotted this little hummer whizzing around our lilac tree. I think it’s a Rufous Hummingbird, an unusual sighting in Seattle this time of year. I’d always heard that Rufouses migrated south but this winter has been pretty mild. Perhaps like their cousins, the Anna’s Hummingbirds, they now find enough to eat in the feeders and flowering shrubs to allow them to spend the gray winters with us.
